I know that I have, in evasion of diletantism, spread myself far too widely
across my interests; in an afternoon I may have picked up a history text.
two novels or more, and a math text. Surely this is not the way to approach
things.

Today, also, I listened to a lecture by Dr. Elliot Engel, and excelent
orator, on Mark Twain. Tomorrow he will speak on Blackbeard, and I wholly
look forward to this.
