One of the most jarring experiences of living with first-year students is dealing with their enthusiasm. They're so very excited that they're here now. . . well what will happen when the going gets touch? Their enthusiasm will evaporate, of course, and hopefully they will keep on. for their enthusiasm, they look too backward, strangely enough, to their high-school experience, perhaps looking for some experience relatable to now, or for consolation later. Half of them are playing overwatch, a recent unfocused "development" in entertainment. When I watch it, it feels like the essence of far more creative games has been recycled and put in some unfitting clothes. But they still play it, looking for some bright entertainment they felt at the outset and are forbidden to ever feel again. . .
It doesn't feel like there is much of an end to videogames. of course that's not much of an observation there isn't one that is not tainted and sententious and upholding the "common good," or "productivity." All I see is the same game run over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over forever.
while I study kanji I play counterstrike: source. The key to memorization rests in the time you invest doing other things before practicing the thing again, and CS:S offers this mental silence.
when played with absolute attention it becomes a tense game of reaction time and skilled, rapid micromovements. But I rarely play like this and pay much more attention to the scenery if it is good and open. The cerulean skies of some maps contrasted with with the crunching sounds of the snow makes me feel like I've been put somewhere else, to think through the challenges of everyday through a new lens, multiplayer is incidental!
